Really Happy with the Mindset We Are in as a Team - KL Rahul

Centurion from the last game, KL Rahul admitted that he along with the whole team is in a good frame of mind ahead of the second Twenty20 Internationals at Cardiff on July 6 (Friday).

Meanwhile, India is currently leading the series 1-0 after routing the host by eight wickets. Rahul and Kuldeep Yadav starred for India returning with an unbeaten century and a five-for at the Old Trafford.

Talking about the last game, Rahul admitted that he is really happy with the opportunity he got. However, he also added they he will have to make the most of this opportunities and revealed that batting at No 3 give him freedom.

I have always batted top of the order and 1 & 2 is where I am most comfortable to bat. Still, to bat at three, I felt like opening the innings as Shikhar got out early. It gives me an opportunity to get my eye in and use the first six. Whatever chance I get, I will have to make the most of it and very happy that I got to bat at three,” Rahul said at the pre-match press conference.

The Karnataka batsman had a string of half-centuries, however, the centuries were not coming for the last 18 months. Rahul admitted that he really had no clue what else he needs to do and stopped worrying about it. However, he revealed that he is happy that it came here in England and in the first game of the tour. He is also hopeful to carry it forward and make it big in this long tour.

Team is in a good frame of mind

Talking about the team, Rahul admitted that they had a good preparation and the two games in Ireland were very helpful. He also admitted that the team is having a good mindset and eager to clinch the series in the next game.

We are really with the mindset every individual is in and as a team, we are enjoying ourselves. The way we have started is excellent and hopefully, we can continue this momentum,” Rahul noted.

In conclusion, speaking about English batsmen struggling against spin, Rahul stressed that Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep are rare talents which gives them the advantage of playing two wrist spinners. Kuldeep and Chahal have been spectacular in recent times and will look to carry that form forward.
