Reason Why Kedar Jadhav And Dinesh Karthik Are Unlikely To Tour West Indies

Reigning world champions England have shown that one need to plan extensively to win the World Cup. After a humiliating exit from the 2015 World Cup, England turned their fortunes around remarkably well and won the recently-concluded World Cup. India would love to take a leaf out of England’s books and win the next World Cup at home.
India’s biggest challenge at the moment is sorting out their fragile middle-order. The likes of Dinesh Karthik and Kedar Jadhav have pretty much showed that they cannot really deliver on consistent basis. Their performance in the World Cup has only hurt their chances. Given that India’s next aim in ODIs is to win the World Cup, the team-management really needs to take some bold calls.
Thus, it would not be very surprising if India do not include Kedar Jadhav and Dinesh Karthik in their squad for the upcoming tour of India. By the time the next World Cup comes, both the players will be on the wrong side of 30s and are very much unlikely to get a longer rope now. This instead of picking them, India could pick Manish Pandey and Shubman Gill in the team.

Both the players might have put themselves on selectors’ radar with their recent performances. Gill has looked in splendid touch during the India ‘A’ series in the West Indies. Pandey, on the other hand, served a timely reminder of his class with a classy century earlier this week. The knock helped India A win the game by 148 runs and take an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series.
Both Pandey and Gill are very highly-rated in India and it is high time, India invest in them and give them a longer rope. India have already paid a hefty price for their constant chopping policy and it is high time they give Pandey and Gill an extended run to solve their middle-order woes.
