It wasn’t a great England series for Ajinkya Rahane. Though he managed to put up a couple of decent performances, most of the times, he failed to knock it for India. Meanwhile, the reports suggest he might play the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy to show his mettle.

It comes to know that Ajinkya Rahane is gearing for Mumbai to be on the selection radar for the upcoming 2019 World Cup. He will be part of the first four ODI games of the domestic one-day tournament.

Ajinkya Rahane looking for a spot in 2019 World Cup –

A source close to Times of India quoted them Ajinkya Rahane might get picked for Mumbai in the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy. It is learnt that the vice-captain of India in Test cricket is eyeing a return to ODI side.

The selections will be done on Wednesday by the chairman of the selection panel, Ajit Agarkar.

”The selectors, led by former India all-rounder Ajit Agarkar, will pick the team on Wednesday,” The Times of India quoted a source as saying on Wednesday.

The source further added, “Besides recovering from, Rahane would have another reason to play in this tournament despite having just taken part in a gruelling series — a few runs here may just help him stay in fray for a spot in India’s team for the World Cup in England next year.”

However, Ajinkay Rahane last played for India in the ODI series against South Africa. He played well in one of those games by batting at number four. Surprisingly, he wasn’t called up in the next tour for India.

However, it seems like Ajinkya Rahane wants to press his case at number four for India. He has always given his best for the team whenever he got chances.

Hopefully, he will use the upcoming domestic tournament for the better chances in the ODI side.
