Reports: Mohammed Kaif Likely to Join Delhi Daredevils in IPL 2019

It seems like Delhi is trying their best to get the high-grade support staff for the upcoming edition of Indian Premier League (IPL 2019). Earlier, the reports surfaced that they are in talks with Anil Kumble, now, the new reports say that Mohammed Kaif is also on the radar.

If the reports by The Mumbai Mirror are to be believed, Mohammed Kaif is happy to serve the team alongside Ricky Ponting in the coaching staff. However, the official confirmation is yet to come from either Kaif or the franchise.

Earlier, Delhi Daredevils replaced Rahul Dravid with Ricky Ponting due to the conflict of interest. Despite the appointment of the stalwart cricketer, they failed to make it big in the 2018 edition of the IPL.

Meanwhile, they are trying to get the services of the Indian player to assist Ricky Ponting in the upcoming edition. The addition of Mohammed Kaif would probably yield better results for the team, as he got enough cricketing knowledge.

Delhi Daredevils officials are in talks with Mohammed Kaif for IPL 2019:

Previously, Mohammed Kaif worked for Gujarat Lions in the coaching staff. However, he didn’t get the opportunity in the following year, as he chose to try his hand as a TV commentator for Star Sports Network.

Apart from IPL, Mohammed Kaif has got the experience under his belt. He had handed his services as the coach-cum-player to Chattisgarh in their inaugural Ranji Season.

All in all, it would be a good signing for Delhi if they get the experienced Indian campaigner in their side. They ended up on the wrong side of the result for the first eleven seasons continuously and hopefully, they would do better this time.

Meanwhile, it would be interesting to see whether they retain Gautam Gambhir for the upcoming season or not. If not as the player, having Gautam Gambhir as a coach in the ranks will benefit the youngsters greatly.
