Bangladesh cricketer Sabbir Rahman is in troubled waters once again. The cricketer always finds a way to get into the tabloid for all the wrong reasons. According to fresh reports, the cricketer was involved in an eve-teasing incident. Rahman teased Indian Tennis star, and Shoaib Malik’s wife Sania Mirza, four years ago.
Sania was with her husband Shoaib in Bangladesh as the latter took part in the domestic competition. He has been accused of teasing Sania while she was cheering for Malik in the ground.
The veteran Pakistan cricketer has written an official complaint to the chairman of Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM). If the allegations against him are proved, then the Bangladesh cricketer is likely to face hefty fine apart from a possible ban. Shabbir missed out to be in the squad of Tigers’ Asia Cup 2018 squad.
Sabbir Rahman banned for 6-months
Sabbir has been slapped with a six-month ban from international cricket for his off-field offence. He also involved himself in a social media war of words. It was alleged that the cricketer abused and threatened a fan on Facebook.
Sabbir and Mossadek Hossain attended a disciplinary committee hearing of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). The latter was called following allegations of domestic violence levelled by his wife.
The board hasn’t taken any action against Mosaddek yet. The matter of him asking for 10 Lakh Taka dowry from his wife is still under investigation.
“We recommended six-month ban from international cricket, and it will be implemented from tomorrow,” BCB director Ismail Haider told reporters after the hearing.
“He is yet to play domestic cricket for his earlier ban that is expected to end this September. But today we had taken this decision for his Facebook post. Though he said that it was hacked, we don’t have the mechanism to verify that,” he added.
