Ricky Ponting Makes Debut On Twitter, Brendon McCullum Welcomes Him In Hilarious Manner

Ricky Ponting who made his appearance as a cricketer, commentator and a coach in his career took a long time to make a debut on Twitter. Former Australia skipper announced his arrival with his first-ever post on the micro-blogging platform on Wednesday. Former Australian cricketers like Michael Clarke, Adam Gilchrist are active on social media as they keep their fans engaged by updating the latest activities.

Ricky Ponting is busy with his commentary duties in the ongoing Test series between Australia and New Zealand. The first Test of the three-match series is underway at the Perth Stadium in Perth with the hosts in a dominant position against New Zealand. The hosts are well and truly on top on the first day in Perth after a magnificent century from Marnus Labuschagne.

He smashed 143 off 240 balls on the back of 18 fours and a six. Travis Head also smashed a crucial fifty (56) which helped Australia post a commending total of 416 runs on the board in their first innings. On the other hand, Tim Southee and Neil Wagner put on a good show with the ball for New Zealand as the duo bagged eight wickets between them.

However, Australian batsmen did manage to defy all the challenges and steered their team to a good total of 416. In response, New Zealand are reeling at 109/5. In what was a bad start to the game, Kiwis lost both their openers Jeet Raval (1) and Tom Latham (0) before skipper Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor steadied the ship. Mitchell Starc removed Latham before Josh Hazlewood dismissed Raval.

Brendon McCullum takes a shot at Ricky Ponting

The elite commentary panel for the series features Ricky Ponting, former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum. It was on Friday, Brendon McCullum posted a hilarious tweet taking a dig at Ricky Ponting for not responding to his text messages.

He also had a question from the Ponting regarding the timings for the commentators to leave for the ground. However, Ponting was quick to reply with his official Twitter handle.

“Seen as you don’t reply to my normal messages @RickyPonting, I’ll try you on here instead! What time are we @7Cricket commentators leaving for the ground today skipper?” McCullum tweeted.

“10:30 downstairs bro,” replied Ponting in a nonchalant manner.
