Former Australia captain and current Delhi Capitals coach Ricky Ponting has spoken on the recent turn of events with Rishabh Pant in international cricket. The highly-rated wicketkeeper-batsman has now lost his place in the playing eleven across all the three formats.
Ricky Ponting was holding a question-answer session on Twitter when one of his followers asked him about what his thoughts over Rishabh Pant losing his place in the team across formats. The last six months or so have been absolutely disastrous for the youngster.

At the start of the home season last year, he lost his place in the playing eleven of the Test side. He was made the first-choice wicketkeeper in ODIs and T20Is after MS Dhoni took a break from the game. But the highly-rated youngster failed to do well in limited-overs format too and is now out of the playing eleven of T20Is too.
India have now handed the gloves to KL Rahul after he impressed against Australia when Rishabh Pant suffered a concussion. KL Rahul was the wicketkeeper in the first two T20Is against New Zealand while Rishabh Pant warmed the bench. With Rahul scoring fifties in both the games, it is highly unlikely that Pant would get a chance in the playing eleven anytime soon.
However, Ricky Ponting believes otherwise. The legendary batsman believes that Rishabh Pant will win back his place in the Indian team sooner rather than later. The Australia legend said that he is looking forward to working with Pant in the upcoming IPL as he wrote:
“@RishabhPant17 is a young man with a huge amount of talent. I’m looking forward to working with him again during the IPL and I’m sure he’ll be back in the Indian team sooner rather than later”
