Ricky Ponting Recalls Best Over He Faced In International Cricket

It was difficult to trouble Australia great Ricky Ponting at his peak. But former England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff did it at ease during the Ashes Test at Edgbaston in 2005. Ricky Ponting was beaten all ends up and hand no answer to Andrew Flintoff’s fiery pace.

In the Edgbaston Test, Flintoff was in the thick of things for scoring 70 runs in both the innings and then removing the Australian opener to eventually invite Ricky Ponting to bat. The former Australia captain had a start to forget in the over.
As seen in the video, Ponting huffed and puffed to survive the first three balls of the over. He, then, watched the ball closely and left the delivery travelling outside the off-stump line as umpire signaled it a no ball. Flintoff went back to his run-up and the next ball came as a blessing in disguise for the all-rounder and the English side.
The next delivery from ‘Freddie’ Flintoff was an absolute peach! He bowled it full outside off as it took an outside edge off Ponting’s bat and finished into the safe arms of the wicket-keeper. The wicket left the entire team ecstatic as they cheered the historic dismissal.
