Twitter Roasts ICC for Excluding Rishabh Pant from T20I Squad Against New Zealand and Australia

The India National Cricket Team squad for the 50-over series against Australia and the limited-overs tour to New Zealand got announced on Monday. Veteran wicket-keeper batsman MS Dhoni made a comeback into the fold while rookie Rishabh Pant got handed a snub. Meanwhile, Dhoni didn’t feature in the T20I series against the Windies and Australia. It was the Delhi-boy, who kept the wickets.
Pant’s failures cost him his place
Meanwhile, Rishabh was unable to seize the opportunity with both hands. He managed to score a mere 41 runs in his two outings against the Windies. On the other hand, Dinesh Karthik established himself as a pure finisher in the side after playing vital knocks in the T20I series Down-Under.
As of now, India is currently participating in the Test series against Tim Paine’s boys. India’s wicketkeeper-batsman has been clinical behind the stumps but couldn’t add runs to his kitty so far in whites. Also, the series is level at 1-1 with MCG hosting the Boxing Day Test tomorrow, 26th December.
Selectors back Dinesh Karthik in the ODI squad
The selectors made a clear indication that Karthik will be preferred over Pant for the 2019 World Cup next year. Karthik had a good year with the bat. Though, he has played as a pure batsman on occasions; the Tamil Nadu-born cricketer is currently seen as a back-up for Dhoni.
However, the official account of ICC announced the squad on Twitter. There was an error as it was mentioned that Pant got dropped from the squads overall. While the fact is that he got named for the T20Is against the Kiwis, the internet didn’t shy away from taking digs turn by turn.
