After centuries in England and Australia, one would have expected Rishabh Pant to be a regular name in India’s Test playing XI. However, that wasn’t the case, as he gradually fell apart. He has been under intense scrutiny for his underwhelming performances in the limited form of cricket but has got the firm backing of both skipper Virat Kohli and his deputy Rohit Sharma alongside the team head coach Ravi Shastri.
Now, he gets the support from the president of BCCI Sourav Ganguly, who believes that Rishabh Pant is an exceptional cricketer. He highlighted the performances of Pant in the series against West Indies and hopes that the youngster will come good in the upcoming series against Sri Lanka and Australia as well.
Rishabh Pant record in Tests has been good – Sourav Ganguly
Further, speaking on the sidelines of the My XI Circle launch, Sourav Ganguly added that he doesn’t want to involve in the selection matters, as there is a panel in place for the selection of a team. He believes Rishabh Pant will deliver the goods consistently in the times to come.

“These are selection matters which are dealt with by selectors. But Rishabh (Pant) is a special talent and we saw how he played well in the two matches he played against West Indies. His record in Test cricket has been good, but the end decision would be left to the selectors,” Ganguly to Times of India.
On Pink Ball Tests:
The president believes that the pink ball Test matches have attracted the Indian fans, which will see the board including a few more Day/Night Test games in future. However, he explained that playing a Pink Ball Test match will depend on the opposition’s cricketing board.

”We will have to discuss this with the other cricket boards as well. But the pink ball Test has definitely gained popularity in India,” Sourav Ganguly said.
