Rishabh Pant is talented but he should be groomed enough: Syed Kirmani

Former India cricketer Syed Kirmani believes Risbabh Pant needs to be monitored a bit longer in the domestic arena. Meanwhile, Pant has yet to make a mark in the four T20Is he has played.
However, Pant, who is a possible replacement of Dhoni has a remarkable record in the domestic circuit. However, this is a massive opportunity for the youngster to make a strong case for himself.
Pant should be groomed:
The former wicket-keeper admitted that Pant needs grooming despite possing a lot of talent. Kirmani is also said that he doesn’t want Pant to have the faith of Parthiv Patel.
“Everyone is not Sachin Tendulkar, who will be a success at 16 years. He was a prodigy, but that’s not the case with everyone else. Parthiv was inducted very early which shouldn’t have happened. Rishabh is talented, but he should be groomed enough so that he doesn’t go the Parthiv way,” Kirmani told to PTI.
Parthiv, who made his international debut in 2012 has played only 65 games (25 Tests, 38 ODIs, and 2 T20Is) for India. MS Dhoni replaced him as the premier wicket-keeper early in his cricketing days.
Kirmani further added that there was no guidance for keepers earlier. Also, he spilt the beans behind Parthiv’s failure in international cricket.
“Parthiv suffered as he was not ready. He suffered because of lack of experience and started lagging behind. That’s why I stress about grooming someone at the domestic level. Don’t induct a Pant or a Sanju Samson straightaway. I would want them to show more consistency at the first-class level for a considerable period along with peak fitness and immaculate keeping technique,” said Kirmani.
Karthik ideal to replace Dhoni:
Kirmani further feels that Dinesh Karthik is the ideal man to replace MS Dhoni because of all-round abilities. Also, he feels Dhoni didn’t do the right thing quitting Test cricket.
“I still feel Dhoni didn’t do the right thing by retiring from Tests. Virat still needs his guidance and also the next batch could have learned more about the rigors of Test cricket from him. But as far as ODIs and T20s are concerned, my choice is Dinesh Karthik. He is a fantastic batsman, a safe wicketkeeper, and a very good outfielder. He is an all-rounder for me,” Kirmani added.
However, he feels when it comes to Test cricket, it is between Wriddhiman Saha, Karthik, and Parthiv depending on their current form. In conclusion, he also targetted former cricketers who questioned Dhoni’s consistency
