There was a time when former India captain Sourav Ganguly took on the off-spinners and hit them all over the park in Sharjah. Rishabh Pant, the left-hand batsman, is now doing it for the Delhi Capitals during a net session at the same venue. Pant, is putting the hard yards, as he will be one of the key youngsters for the franchise in IPL 2020.

Pant had began his preparation earlier in India, where he seemed to be striking the deliveries pretty hard. Among all the shots he had to offer, the Delhi batsman also pulled off a MS Dhoni-esque helicopter shot which was well documented in the video. He has made his intentions clear with the way he has continued to bat in the net session and Delhi Capitals share its video with a reference of BCCI president Sourav Ganguly.

“An Indian southpaw smashing sixes off spinners at will in Sharjah. Well, where have we heard that before?,” Delhi Capitals tweeted along with the video.

Last season, the young side led by Shreyas Iyer, which included the likes of Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer, qualified for the IPL playoffs after a drought of seven years.

Pant was touted to fill in the big boots of MS Dhoni across format. But as he failed to capitalise on the chances he was given with his poor shot selection and questionable glovework, it opened the doors for KL Rahul. Pant was also severely scrutinized by the media and cricket fraternity.
