In a rapid fire interview, Robin Uthappa was asked to choose his favourite skipper between Sourav Ganguly and MS Dhoni.

Ganguly and Dhoni are two of the most decorated and successful skippers in the history of Indian cricket. Ganguly became the captain of the side just days after the match-fixing crisis. He went on to become the country’s most successful leader before MS Dhoni bettered his record.

It was Ganguly who had led India to the famous as well as the miraculous come-from-behind triumph against the all-conquering Australians in 2001. A couple of years later, his 144-run knock in Brisbane set the tone for India’s 1-1 series draw Down Under.

Ganguly will always be remembered for his immense role in making the team believe it can win overseas. Under him, India registered a berth in the final of a Knockout tournament in 2000. Two years later, they won the same event. In 2003, the Ganguly-led team made it to the final of the World Cup.  He also led India to a historic Test series victory in Pakistan in 2004.

Dhoni then took the captaincy a few years later and completely transformed Indian cricket. Till date, he is the only skipper to have won all the ICC events after leading India to World Cup glory in 2011 followed by the Champions Trophy title in 2013.

He also led the Indian team to the pinnacle of Test cricket in 2009 in addition to winning several historic overseas series.

And when Uthappa was asked to pick one between these two, the right-handed batsman went for Dhoni. In a rapid-fire interview with Sportskeeda, he was asked the question to pick one between the two and Uthappa went for Dhoni after a small smile.

Uthappa played most of his games under Dhoni’s captaincy.

Meanwhile, Uthappa last played for India during the tour of Zimbabwe in July-August 2015.
