Rohit Sharma has impinged himself as one of the better captains in white-ball cricket in the modern era. Sharma made his captaincy debut during the 2013 edition of the Indian Premier League.
And, since then he has led the Mumbai Indians to a record four titles; eclipsing MS Dhoni as the most successful captain in the history of the competition. One of the things that stands out when you see Rohit lead a team is his incredible sense of calm, almost to the tune of what we see from the legendary MS Dhoni.
Karn Sharma, who has played under both Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni for the Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings respectively, feels that the opener has learned the art by playing for so many years under the leadership of MSD.
“Rohit and MS Dhoni are quite similar as captains. I think Rohit has learned a lot from MS, since he has played for so many years under him. Both bring in calmness and give complete freedom to their bowlers for setting their own field. Only if it doesn’t work out, they will come up with another plan,” Karn Sharma told Dr. Yash Kashikar on his Instagram Live ‘Say Yash To Sports’.

Heaping further praise on Dhoni, Karn Sharma said that such is the calmness that the former Indian captain enthuses that he doesn’t let the pressure of the situation affect his team, adding that there is a lot to learn from the champion leader.
“In fact, there is a lot to learn from Dhoni, whether you are a part of the XI or not. Most importantly, he remains cool and calm in crunch situations and doesn’t let the pressure mount on himself as well as the team.” he said
“I feel a team is dependent a lot on its captain because if he is under pressure, then it creates some doubt in the side. But that isn’t the case when Dhoni is around. He takes on challenges and deals with tough situations,” Karn Sharma signed off.
