Rohit Sharma And Gautam Gambhir Share Pleasantries On Latter's Birthday

Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir exchanged pleasantries on Twitter after the former wished the latter on his 37th birthday.

Gautam Gambhir was one of the most sought after players in the world in the second half of the last decade. He was an integral part of the team across all the three formats and was also one of the batting mainstays. Gambhir was the top-scorer when India beat Pakistan in the final of the inaugural World T20. The southpaw was looking destined to create his own legacy in the game. His reputation was further enhanced after his starring performance in the 2011 World Cup.

A loss of form soon saw him out of the Indian team. Gambhir’s international career is completely off the track at the moment. His last appearance for India came against England in Rajkot, the first one of the five-Test series in the year 2016. Gambhir had got the call after KL Rahul suffered an injury in the first Test of the home season against New Zealand.

The southpaw had warmed the bench in Kolkata Test and got the chance only after Shikhar Dhawan got injured. Gambhir played the Indore Test and scored 7o. However, his comeback lasted just two Tests as he was dropped from the team after failing to impress.

Rohit Sharma (R) called Gautam Gambhir World Cup hero on his birthday

Earlier this year, he had a forgettable outing in the Indian Premier League. Gambhir sensationally stepped down as Delhi Daredevils’ skipper after his side’s dismal start to the season. Under his captaincy, the Daredevils managed a solitary win in six games. He did not play any game after giving up captaincy.

But keeping aside all his past achievements and recent struggles, the cricketing fraternity flooded him with messages on his birthday. And Rohit Sharma also made sure to wish his former teammate and ‘World Cup hero’, tweeting:

“Birthday wishes to our World Cup hero, have a great day @GautamGambhir”

Gambhir was quick to return the favour, thanking Rohit in addition to calling him Rolls Royce as he wrote:

“Thanks Rolls Royce. Hope you oiling that bat, Windies are waiting and so are we for your bat to blaze.”
