Rohit Sharma was sidelined from the Mumbai Indians and Team India squad for Australia tour owing to a hamstring injury. The Mumbai franchise had notified about the type of injury he has suffered but their is no clarity on the number of days he will be out. There have also been murmurs that he could be ruled out of IPL 2020 while the clarity on his injury status is too little.

He was also seen practicing at the nets for Mumbai Indians soon after the Indian squad for Australia tour was announced. However, stand-in captain Kieron Pollard has delivered a positive update.

Mumbai Indians pummeled Delhi Capitals by nine wickets to continue on their dominating run in the IPL 2020. The defending champions are the only side to have qualified for the IPL 2020 playoffs and they continue to do well in absence of Rohit Sharma.

“Rohit is getting better and hopefully he’ll be back soon. We need to play another couple of good games and get to the final. This isn’t supposed to be our year (even number), but it’s been working for us so far,” Kieron Pollard said at the post match interview.

The Indian cricket board will access the injury status of opener Rohit Sharma as he was not named in the squads for Australia tour. The decision taken by the Sunil Joshi-led selection panel has become a large part of discussion in the cricketing folklore with many sharing their own opinions.

KL Rahul has been named as the limited-overs vice-captain in absence of Rohit Sharma.
