Rohit Sharma has impinged himself as one of the greatest white-ball batsmen of all time. The swashbuckling Indian opener has three double-hundreds to his name in One-day International cricket.
Rohit was always earmarked as a prodigious talent and the next big thing in international cricket when he made his debut way back in 2007.
One of the things that stood out in Rohit Sharma from the outset, was the amount the time that he always seemed to have while batting against the fiercest of fast bowlers. Add the gift of timing and the nonchalance with which he strokes his shots, and Rohit becomes a nightmare to bowl to for even the best in the business.
Former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee went down memory lane and reminisced about the first thing that struck him while bowling to Rohit Sharma for the first time.
“He was flamboyant and aggressive but my first memory of Rohit Sharma was the sound of his bat. That’s the first thing I could think of; the knock of the bat from people hitting the ball right off the center — it’s a different sound,” Brett Lee said on Star Sports show “Cricket Connected”
Brett Lee added that Sharma is one of those rare breeds of batsmen who can take apart any bowling attack from the very outset and this is precisely the reason why he absolutely hated bowling to him.
“He is the kind of guy who is so mentally switched on, that once he gets through the tough period, he cashes in. When you got guys like Sharma at the top of the order, who can dominate from early on, they are the guys I don’t want to bowl to. He is definitely in that class,” he added.

Rohit Sharma had recently named Brett Lee as one of the bowlers he found difficult to handle early on in his career
Earlier, Rohit Sharm, during a freewheeling chat with Mohammed Shami, had revealed that Brett Lee and Dale Steyn were the two bowlers that he struggled against during the initial part of his career.
“When I came into the side, the fastest bowler in the world used to be Brett Lee. In my debut ODI series, I went to Ireland to face South Africa, and Dale Steyn was pretty quick then as well. When I started playing, I really liked Lee and Steyn, I had difficulties in facing them as well,” Rohit told Shami during the Instagram Live session.
Rohit has been in whirlwind form in white-ball cricket for almost seven years, the zenith of which was reached during the 2019 World Cup where he became the first batsman to smash five hundreds in a single edition.
