The skipper of West Indies, Kieron Pollard and the vice-captain of the Indian team Rohit Sharma share a nice bond between them. The duo has played for Mumbai Indians in the IPL for nearly a decade now and thus they know each other very well. And as they gear up to take on each other in the third T20I, Rohit Sharma has showered words of praise on Kieron Pollard for his smart captaincy.

Speaking to the press on the eve of the T20I series decider in Mumbai, Rohit Sharma heaped rich praise on Kieron Pollard’s captaincy and said the West Indies ‘are a different team now’ under the all-rounder’s captaincy. He led the team to victory in the second T20I at Thiruvananthapuram to make the series scoreline read 1-1.

Kieron Pollard is a very smart thinker – Rohit Sharma

He believes Kieron Pollard gets benefitted from playing the game across the world in franchise cricket. Further, he felt that Pollard got a vast knowledge of the game to make things fall in place for the West Indies team. Besides his captaincy, Rohit Sharma calls Kieron Pollard a smart player as well.

“I think he [Pollard] is a very smart player. Obviously, he is the captain of the team. When it comes to Mumbai, he was always part of the leadership group. Last year, for Mumbai, when I was not there for one game, he captained the team. I know how he thinks.

“He is a very smart thinker of the game. He knows exactly how to make use of each player’s strengths. He is a very confident leader. Yes, he has great knowledge about the game. He has played so many games around the world. Yeah, that helps him handle situations on the group pretty well.”
