During a chat with Gaurav Kapur during the show, Breakfast with Champions, Rohit relived the memories of his debut series and recalled his first encounter with Yuvraj Singh, the star of the team then. Rohit recalled that when he first met Yuvraj, the all-rounder did not talk to him on the first tour when they toured for their first international series,

“Yuvraj Singh, who else,” Rohit reveals the name who did his ragging.

“I used to fear the players. The first time when I was to board the team bus with other players, I reached the lobby one hour earlier. I was waiting for everyone. They came slowly but Yuvraj was looking different from farsight. I was a big fan of Yuvi (Yuvraj Singh).,” he said

“In the bus, he came close to me asked: “Did I know whose seat it was? Did I know who sits there? So it was not the first good experience for me with Yuvraj Singh. On the first international tour as well, where Yuvraj was Man of the series, we did not talk and when I congratulated him, he just said thanks. It was only when he smashed six sixes in an over when he came to ask me and we went to eat something outside.,” Rohit added.

Talking about the current scenario, Rohit and Yuvraj are best of the friends in the Indian team. It is to be recalled that when Yuvraj Singh came under the scanner for playing slowly in the final of 2014 T20 World cup, it was Rohit who defend the two-time world cup winner.

Presently, Rohit is the permanent member of the team in all the formats of the game whereas Yuvraj is looking to make a comeback in the Indian team. Yuvraj recent cleared the yo-yo test, the first barometer which is to be cleared to find a place in the Indian team.

With Indian team all set to go to South Africa, Yuvraj has a chance to make a comeback in limited drivers format. BCCI has already preponed the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2018 and its a chance for Yuvraj to perform and present a case to make a comeback in the team for a tour where the Indian team will need experienced players.
