With Rohit Sharma proving his captaincy skills once again by leading Mumbai Indians to glory in IPL 2020 final on Tuesday, former England skipper Michael Vaughan believes the Mumbai star should lead India in the shortest format of the game.
The Rohit Sharma-led side thrashed Delhi Capitals by five wickets in the final to win the IPL for the fifth time. No other team has won the IPL title more than thrice. Mumbai Indians also became just the second team after Chennai Super Kings to retain their IPL title.

Batting first, Delhi Capitals scored 156 for 7 in the allotted 20 overs. Shreyas Iyer top-scored for Delhi, scoring an unbeaten 65 while Rishabh Pant scored 56. In reply, Mumbai Indians chased down the total in the 19th over with Rohit Sharma’s 68 leading the way.
Rohit Sharma as India’s T20 captain:
Following the game, Michael Vaughan took to Twitter to lavish praise on Rohit Sharma and opined that he should be made India’s T20 captain. He hailed India’s limited-overs vice-captain as a “fantastic man manager” and also stated that Rohit “knows how to win T20 games”.

Michael Vaughan also opined that making Rohit the T20 captain would give current captain Virat Kohli a chance to ‘take a breather’ and play freely. At present, Kohli is India’s captain across all the three formats.
“Without question Rohit Sharma should be the Indian T20 captain.. fantastic man manager & leader.. & he knows exactly how to win T20 games .. it would also give Virat chance to take a breather and just be the player .. it’s works for all other teams around the world..#IPL2020,” Michael Vaughan tweeted.

Rohit Sharma is not new to captaincy in international cricket either. He has led India on several occasions in Virat Kohli’s absence. In 2018, the right-handed batsman had led India to glory in the Nidahas Trophy and the Asia Cup in the UAE.
