India finished the home Series with a spectacular victory at Bengaluru. The skipper Virat Kohli alongside Rohit Sharma and the fast bowler Mohammed Shami helped India seal a comfortable victory in the third ODI game at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. For Australia, Steve Smith was the star performer but unfortunately, ended up on the wrong side of things.
Chasing the moderate score, the openers KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma started things pretty well for the team. In particular, Rohit Sharma took Australian bowlers to the cleaners with his impeccable hitting in the middle. He utilised the width at the crease and delivered those crunching hits for the fans to go berserk in the venue.
Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli added 137 runs:
Though Ashton Agar gave a sigh of relief to the visitors with the wicket of KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli proved to be too much for Australian bowlers. They both added 137 runs for the second wicket before Adam Zampa picking the wicket of Rohit Sharma in the middle overs. However, Virat Kohli stood tall in the middle alongside Shreyas Iyer to see India reach home safely.
Earlier, in the day, Aaron Finch won the toss to ask Indians to bowl first. After the failure of Australian openers David Warner and Aaron Finch, Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne once again stood tall for the Australian team. The duo added 127 runs for the third wicket to bring Australia back into the hunt.
Despite wickets tumbling at one end, Steve Smith looked rock solid at the other end. He kept on piling runs for his side to help Australia reach a safe tally. Though he missed a century in the second ODI, the flamboyant batsman showed his stamina by hitting a stunning century in M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
All in all, it was a brilliant series for the fans, who enjoyed the 3-match bilateral series. Though India lost the first game at Wankhede Stadium, they bounced back by winning the game at Rajkot and Bengaluru to seal a three-match ODI series.
