The Hitman of India cricket rewrote history and became the only man in world cricket to hit three double centuries in ODI cricket when he smashed the Sri Lankan bowlers all around the PCA Stadium in Mohali. It was mayhem by the Mumbaikar as he smashed his 2nd hundred in a mere 35 deliveries. He toyed with the Lankan pace attack towards the fag end of the innings and smashed 11 sixes during the last ten overs of the innings.

Like always Rohit started off on a cautious note and started building his innings. He played some exceptional shots in the process shared a sensational partnership with Shreyas Iyer for the 2nd wicket. He took control of the proceedings during the last phase of the innings as Rohit kept going hammers and tongs and the Lankan bowlers were left scratching their head in front a Rohit onslaught.

Openers Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit got India off to a sensational start with Dhawan scoring the bulk of the runs as the duo shared a partnership of 115 runs for the opening wicket. Rohit slowly built his innings and relied on the big shots during the later part of the innings which took India to a mammoth score of 392 in their allotted 50 overs.

Meanwhile, it was just the 2nd ODI as a skipper for Rohit Sharma and just like regular skipper Virat his record is identical to him when it comes to first two ODI’s as a skipper. While Rohit made 2 in the opening ODI at Dharamsala, Kohli also made a couple of runs during his 1st ODI as a skipper against the Windies in 2013.

He scored a brilliant century in his 2nd ODI as a skipper at Port of Spain, and the same feat was achieved by Rohit when he completed his 16th ODI century. Incidentally, it was also the marriage anniversary of Rohit and his wife Ritika Sajdeh and what a brilliant anniversary gift it was for Rohit’s wife. Upon completing his double ton, Rohit blew a flying kiss towards her, and she also looked emotional from the stands and was seen wiping the tears.
