Shivam Dube announced his arrival in style by chipping in with a brilliant knock in the second T20I against West Indies. Though West Indies came from behind and won the game by eight wickets to level the series, Shivam Dube received plaudits for his superb performance. Thanks to Indian captain Virat Kohli, who gave up his batting slot for the young all-rounder.

While India lost KL Rahul for 11 in the fourth over itself, Rohit Sharma too failed to scale his innings as he got out for 15 in the eighth over. Indian captain got out for 19 at number four. “I think I was given the opportunity to bat at No.3 and I think it was a big deal for me. The pressure was there at the starting obviously – international match. After that, Rohit bhai helped me and he said ‘stay calm and back your strength’. I think that was the motivation I needed from a senior player. Then, I got one six and did really well after that,” he added.

Dube added that Kerala’s Greenfield International Stadium was a bit too big while adding that he has enough potential to clear any ground. “I think this ground is big but I have the capability of clearing any ground. You might have seen today also and that’s the capability I have. I think that’s my strength and I always go like that only,” he added.

It is to be noted that this is the fifth T20I for Shivam Dube who is yet to play any other format for the national team. Shivam Dube who repaid the faith shown in him by Indian captain Virat Kohli will be looking forward to making his presence count on the pitch once again when India lock horns with West Indies for the T20I series decider at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai today.
