Rohit Sharma's mother elated with son's historical achievement

Indian opening batsman Rohit Sharma recreated history at Mohali when India faced Sri Lanka in the 2nd One Day International. Rohit Sharma left his footprints on the sands of time by registering the third double century of his career as his wife watch from the stands. His mesmerizing knock of 208 runs came off just 151 deliveries which saw him hit 12 towering maximums.

Sharma’s scintillating innings rode India to a gigantic total of 392 runs making it almost impossible for Sri Lanka to chase it down. India picked up a scintillating victory bundling the Lions for a score of 251 labeling the series at one each. twitter went berserk on seeing Rohit Sharma script the unimaginable and messages dedicated to the batsman flooded the internet.

Rohit Sharma’s mother Purnima Sharma, finally opened up on her son’s achievement. She expressed her feelings mentioning that the family is elated on seeing Rohit Sharma rocket his way to his 3rd double ton. She also highlighted the fact that the innings came on the day of his marriage anniversary which was the icing on the cake.

“We are extremely happy and proud that he had hit a double ton,” said Purnima. “It is his marriage anniversary today, so our happiness has doubled,” she added.

She went on to express the proud feeling of her’s on seeing his son lead the Indian national team. She also admitted to the fact that they were surprised to see Rohit bat at such a pace after completing his hundred.

“We were so surprised that first, he had hit a hundred then he reached the 150 score and then so quickly he had reached the 200 mark while slamming fours and sixes.” added an elated Purnima Sharma.

“I am very proud as a mother than my son is the captain of the Indian team and is playing good innings for the team,” she added.
