Moreover, MS Dhoni is also among the most successful captains in the Indian Premier League (IPL), with only Rohit Sharma having more titles to his name. Under Dhoni’s leadership, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have won four IPL trophies. It’s natural for young cricketers to aspire to be like Dhoni, and one such incident involving a budding CSK player, Shaik Rasheed, had left him emotional.

Rasheed played a crucial role in India’s U-19 squad, contributing a half-century in the finals against England. His performance helped India win the match by four wickets and secure the World Cup trophy.
It Was MS Dhoni Who Used That Bat: Shaik Rasheed
Shaik Rasheed, who was part of the U-19 team that won the 2022 World Cup, revealed that he had a strong desire to own a ‘Reebok’ bat, as it was the same brand that MS Dhoni used.
“When I was around eight years old, it was my birthday and I told my dad that I wanted a Reebok bat. It was Dhoni bhai who used to use that bat and we didn’t have that much money that time. So we could not buy that bat. After that, for an entire day, I was just crying,”
“I was a ball boy during one of the games where I saw someone use that Reebok bat and somehow I couldn’t control my emotions. I really wanted to play with that bat.”
Having been bought by CSK for ₹20 Lakhs in the IPL 2023 auction, the young cricketer is making the most of his opportunity to learn from his captain, MS Dhoni.
“Mahi bhai said “Hi”. It was special for me. First I met him on the bus and then on the ground. Mahi Bhai told me, “Just do whatever you know.” He asked me to perform to my ability,”
“After I finished the practice I learned how to prepare for the T20 format. When I was bowling, Mahi Bhai used to advise me on what I can do. And he would give suggestions after hitting the ball as well.”
Currently, CSK is leading the points table with five victories in seven matches. Their next match is against the Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Thursday.
