Former tainted Indian pacer S Sreesanth has opined on India-Pakistan bilateral matches and said that India shouldn’t play with Pakistan as of now. The two cricketing nations have not locked horns together in a bilateral series since 2012. The only time India and Pakistan play against each other in recent times is in an ICC event or a multi-nation tournament.

The way things are at the moment, cricket has undoubtedly taken the back seat. But to everyone’s surprise, Shoaib Akhtar, who is known for his bold statements, proposed a closed-door series between India and Pakistan to jointly raise funds to fight the deadly virus in both the countries.

However, S Sreesanth has said that he is not personally in favour of having a game between the two cricketing giants until their relations off the field don’t improve.

S Sreesanth Says A Clear No To An India-Pakistan Match

“We are not in good terms with Pakistan so, India first and health first. Personally, I am not in favour of playing any match against Pakistan unless the relations between the two countries improve,” said Sreesanth in an Instagram live chat.

Prior to S Sreesanth, former Indian cricketing legends including Sunil Gavaskar and the 1983 world cup winning captain, Kapil Dev have also refused for a game or a bilateral series between the two nations.

India And Pakistan Have Not Played A Bilateral Series Since 2013

It is quite notable that India’s last visit to Pakistan was in 2006 during Rahul Dravid’s tenure as captain. Back then, MS Dhoni was still making a name for himself and India had tasted success in the ODI series but lost the three-match Test series 0-1.

India and Pakistan are the two nations who have suffered a lot due to political tensions between both the countries since their independence in 1947. The political escalations have affected their bilateral sports treaties as well. Bot the countries have not played a bilateral series since 2013.
