India women’s team thrashed South Africa in the second ODI in Kimberly and took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series, as they won the match by a huge margin of 178 runs.

South Africa won the toss and chose to field first in the second ODI. The decision backfired, as India ended up scoring 302/3, courtesy a brilliant century by opener Smriti Mandhana after she scored an 84 in the first match which also the Indian team won by 88 runs.

Mandhana’s innings included 14 boundaries and one six, as she helped the Indian team reach a huge total in the first innings. She was equally accompanied by Harmanpreet Kaur and Veda Krishnamurthy who scored helpful half centuries.

On the other hand, fast bowler Jhulan Goswami created history, as she became the first bowler to pick up 200 wickets in women’s cricket when she dismissed South Africa’s opener Laura Wolvaardt. Goswami finished the match with one wicket giving away just 29 runs in seven overs.

The fans on social media acknowledged these achievements. Not just the fans, it was also acknowledged by some of the former and current cricketers.

One of them being the ‘Master Blaster’, Sachin Tendulkar. Sachin had earlier met the Women’s team before they flew to the Rainbow nation.

“What a match this is turning out to be!! Stellar performance by @mandhana_smriti once again. A big congratulations to #JhulanGoswami on her 200th ODI wicket. #Jhulan200 #SAWvINDW.”
