Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar continues to deny revealing the tip he gave to India captain Virat Kohli after his 2014 England tour debacle. Kohli managed to score 134 runs in 10 innings during that tour and to his admission thought that his career was almost over. After returning to India, Kohli spoke to Sachin Tendulkar and had a few sessions with him, this was the time when the master blaster gave him the tip.
“I came back from England and spoke to Sachin paaji and had a few sessions with him in Mumbai. I told him that I am working on my hip position,” Kohli told teammate Mayank Agarwal for bcci.tv last month.
Kohli, however, struck the right chords and played in the best for his form in India’s last tour to England. He scored 593 runs in 10 innings with two hundreds. Tendulkar is happy as Kohli took his advice and it worked for him.
“Firstly, I am really happy that it worked well for Virat. And it stays between us. I have never spoken about it and I will continue to keep it that way. I will leave that to his discretion if at all he wishes to,” Sachin Tendulkar told India Today.
“But from my side, I would just say that it’s been a joy to watch him,” Tendulkar added.
Kohli is a determined spirit who made his way to become one of the finest cricketers of all-time through sheer self belief and hard-work. He has made run-scoring look easy and has many records to be broken in line.
Kohli has often showed his love for the sport through his aggression and hardly gives an inch to his opponents on the field. But off it, Kohli is a completely different personality, he likes to spend time with his family, read books, train consistently and maintain his vegan diet, and to top it all he is not fond of fame or attention.
