Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar sent his birthday wished to former Windies legend, Sir Viv Richards. The latter is celebrating his 66th birthday today.

Here is what Sachin wrote  –

Richards played a total of 121 Tests and 187 ODIs for Windies. He used to be an aggressive batsman who had a strike-rate of 90.20 in the ODIs. He played his last international game in 1991 in the form of a Test match against England.

Richards scored 8540 runs in Tests at an average of 50.23.

Richards scored 24 Test tons and 45 half-centuries.

In ODIs, the Windies batsman had scored 6721 runs in 187 games. He batted with an average of 47.00 and scored 11 centuries and 45 half-centuries. His domestic numbers are also staggering, as he played a total of 507 first-class and 500 List A games.

Batting at an average of 49.40, Richards scored 36212 runs with 114 centuries and 162 half-centuries alongside his name.

In List A format, he scored 16,995 runs at 41.96, with 26 centuries and 109 half-centuries. The veteran player also has a stadium named after him – Sir Vic Richards Stadium in Antigua.

He is still associated with the game and does commentary.

Virender Sehwag is often said to have the same style, like Richards, and it often said what watching Sehwag was like watching Richards bat.

Viv Richards also played for Glamorgan and Somerset in county cricket and also went on to represent Queensland. Until 2014, he held the record of the fastest century in Test cricket (56 balls). Later, Misbah ul Haq equalled his record in 2014.

Brendon McCullum broke the 30-years old record when he scored a century in just 54 balls in his last international game.
