Sachin Tendulkar To Play A Big Role In Muttiah Muralitharan’s Biopic
India’s legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar will play a key role in Sri Lanka’s great Muttiah Muralitharan’s biopic. The news was shared by Sethumadhavan, who is the head of the Production, DAR motion pictures. Both Sachin Tendulkar and Muttiah Muralitharan enjoyed a great rivalry with each other during their playing days.
In fact, it was always a great battle between Sachin Tendulkar and Muttiah Muralitharan. The Sri Lankan legendary spinner was able to get the better of Sachin Tendulkar on five occasions in 43 ODI innings. In Test matches, Muralitharan took the wicket of Sachin Tendulkar in 26 innings.
Muttiah Muralitharan was the best spinner in the game.
Speaking exclusively, Sethumadhavan said, “Sachin was the World’s best batsman and Murali was the world’s best bowler and a major part of their cricketing career was running in parallel. Hence Sachin would also be showcased in the film”.
Meanwhile, Muttiah Muralitharan biopic will be released next year. Muralitharan was the leading wicket-taker as he took 800 wickets in the Test format. On the other hand, Sachin Tendulkar was the highest run-getter in both the forms of the game.
“The film will not just talk about Murali’s cricketing exploits but also about his personal journey, his family background, the influence of certain people in his life and also the political and cultural background prevailing in his era”.
Former Sri Lankan players such as Arjuna Ranatunga, Arvinda Silva, Roshan Mahanama, Lasith Malinga and Sanath Jayasuriya will also feature in the movie. Furthermore, Ricky Ponting and umpire Darrell Hair will also play a part in the film.
Darrell Hair had signalled the controversial no ball of Muttiah Muralitharan for a false action. Moreover, Muralitharan’s Indian wife, Madhi will also partake in the movie.
“Madhi is a big pillar of support to Murali and she has enriched her life in many ways. Hence her role in the film will be given enough prominence, showcasing her individuality, and asserting the kind of strong character that she is”.
Muralitharan scalped 534 wickets in 350 One Day Internationals and had a fine career for Sri Lanka. The talisman was difficult to pick and he was successful in breathing down the neck of the world-class batsman.
