Sachin Tendulkar, First Overseas-Born Player, Recalls Yorkshire Stint As '19-Year-Old'

Sachin Tendulkar started early and went too far in his career. His achievements in competitive cricket remains unmatched. Sachin Tendulkar was a story of discipline, hard-work merged with skills which helped him earned accolades and set records wherever he played.
Tendulkar was reminiscent of his stint with Yorkshire and shared memories from his stint with the county club on his Instagram account. He joined Yorkshire in 1992, which made him the first overseas-born player, to represent the club. Tendulkar was a 19-year-old then and played only one season for the club.

Before Tendulkar joined the club, it did not even select players from other English counties. He joined the club as a replacement for injured Australia fast bowler Criag McDermott. The ‘liitle master’ played 16 matches for Yorkshire and scored 1070 runs at an average of 46.52.
Tendulkar said playing for Yorkshire was a ‘special stint’ as it helped him gain exposure and understand the english conditions better. He also shared two pictures from his memories at the club. In one of them he could be seen holding up ‘the passport of Yorkshire’.

After Yorkshire, Tendulkar played for East Bengal in 1994. He never plied his trade in club cricket ever since then with his sole focus remaining on international cricket.
