Kerala fast bowler Sandeep Warrier has replaced Navdeep Saini for the West Indies A tour. Saini has been selected for the senior team in ODI and T20I format and thus Warrier will take the place of the fast bowler in India A squad. Navdeep Saini has impressed with his brisk pace in the domestic circuit and hence he would like to hit the ground running against West Indies.

However, Warrier who played for the Kolkata Knight Riders will be available for the second and third unofficial Test match. Sandeep Warrier will jet off to the Carribean shores on Friday. On the other hand, India A had a good start against West Indies A as the visitors were able to skittle out the hosts for 228. Subsequently, India scored 70 runs for the loss of one wicket at stumps on day one.

Warrier will like to impress with his performance.

Meanwhile, Sandeep Warrier was part of India A squad that locked horns with Sri Lanka A in the last month. India A and Sri Lanka A had played two first-class matches and five One Day matches. Warrier had impressed in the previous season of the Ranji Trophy as he scalped 44 wickets in 10 matches.

“I got the message that I will be replacing Saini in the West Indies squad on Monday. Though I have played for India ‘A’ before, this will be the first time I will be travelling with ‘A’ team abroad. So I am pretty excited and hope to do well in the opportunities I get to play in Windies,” Warrier was quoted by Times of India as saying from Chennai.

Sandeep Warrier had also played for the Kolkata Knight Riders when Shivam Mavi and Kamlesh Nagarkoti could not recover from their respective injuries. The right-arm pacer had taken two wickets in the three matches he had played for the franchise. Thus, Warrier will like to hit the ground running for India A in the two-Test matches against West Indies A.
