Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been India’s most impressive bowler on the ongoing tour of South Africa. He bagged five-wicket haul in the three-match Twenty20 International series opener on February 18 in Johannesburg.
However, Kumar had a dismal run in the six-match One-day International series, as he picked up just two wickets in the five matches he played. He was then rested in the final ODI which was a dead rubber as India had already won the series.

The Indian seam bowler then returned to the side in the first T20 in Johannesburg. The match was an unforgettable one for the Meerut based bowler as he became the first Indian bowler to pick up a five-for in the T20Is

India won the match by a convincing margin of 28 runs and continued their domination over the hosts. Kumar received great appreciation for his massive performance in the first T20.
This time it’s BCCI’s bowling consultant at the National Cricket Academy, Balwinder Singh Sandhu who has praised the Indian seam bowler. Sandhu said that Kumar’s street-smart approach is the reason behind his success.

Sandhu said, “Bhuvi is a street-smart cricketer. If you compare Bhuvneshwar with other bowlers we have, they may have more pace and are much stronger than him, but this guy is more matured as a bowler. He gets the best out of his talent. He is always close to delivering his peak potential,”
Sandhu also that Bhuvi is a more mature bowler than senior bowler, Ishant Sharma. He said, “Bhuvi has showed more maturity than (senior pacer) Ishant (Sharma). He gives an impression of being the main strike bowler, but that is not the case when Ishant is bowling. Bhuvi is a thinking bowler.”
He added, “Even in a crisis, Bhuvi has a smile which makes him physically and mentally relaxed. Generally, pacers lose their temper, get agitated and when they get hit they get upset. It’s not how Bhuvi reacts.”
