It was a brilliant performance from the Men in Blue. Yet again they registered a comprehensive victory in the 1st T20I at the Wanderers in Johannesburg. The victory was largely built around a sensational knock from the blade of Shikhar Dhawan. A terrific piece of bowling by Bhuvneshwar Kumar was there to wrap up things. Riding on 72 of 39 deliveries from the southpaw, India reached a commanding total of 203 runs in 20 overs.
It was Rohit Sharma who got India off to a flying start with 9 balls 21 which included a couple of fours and sixes each. Despite his dismissal, Dhawan kept going after the bowlers as India reached 78/2 at the end of the powerplay. Captain Virat Kohli had a rare off day after being dismissed by Tabraiz Shamsi for 27.
Courtesy some late hitting by MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya, India reached a daunting total. However, when Shikhar was going it looked the visitors would go way beyond the 200 mark. None of the South African bowlers could leave an impression.

While chasing South Africa got off to a reasonably solid start. Two new faces JJ Smuts and Reeza Hendricks played some wonderful shots to begin proceedings. Despite the dismissal of Smuts, Hendricks kept going after the bowlers. I the process he completed his maiden T20I fifty in the final delivery of 13th over bowled by Jaydev Unadkat.
The Mistake by Manjrekar
Sanjay Manjrekar calls Hardik Pandya’s attitude arrogant after the latter’s poor dismissal during the Centurion Test match.
However, Sanjay Manjrekar who was present at the commentary box o the completion of his fifty said that “Hendricks complete his maiden One Day International fifty. He has been trolled in the past for his untimely false remarks and it is no different this time around.
The video in all likelihood is going to get viral and the Manjrekar haters will get another chance to pounce on him. Meanwhile, India will be delighted with a resounding victory and will surely be aiming a whitewash just like what they did in Australia a couple of years back.
