Former India batsman Sanjay Manjrekar is all over the news once again, this time for his comments on the recent election. More often than not Manjrekar manages to hog the limelight for all the wrong reasons due to his comments on cricket. Time and again, Manjrekar faces the backlash on Twitter as many fans find him biased.

Manjrekar has now come up with another comment but this time on politics although with cricket analogies. The former cricketer-turned-commentator gave his opinion on the recent results of the Lok Sabha Elections and as usual it was not the typical Sanjay Manjrekar comment. The outspoken ex-batsman took a sly dig at Rahul Gandhi and his party Indian National Congress after Bharatiya Janta Party’s (BJP) landslide win in the Lok Sabha Elections.

Manjrekar compared the fight between the BJP and congress with a cricket match between India and Papua New Guinea. He, however, cheekily wrote Papu instead of Papua, thus taking a dig at Rahul Gandhi who is being called Pappu by many due to his silly speeches.

“Cricketing equivalent of BJP win is India beating Papu New Guinea,” tweeted Sanjay Manjrekar.

Manjrekar, meanwhile, is currently in England as a part of the commentary panel.  The star studded commentary panel includes the likes of Sourav Ganguly, Harsha Bhogle,  Nasser Hussain, Ian Bishop, Kumar Sangakkara, Michael Atherton, Brendon McCullum, Graeme Smith, Wasim Akram and other big names from the game.

The twelfth edition of the World Cup gets underway on May 30 with hosts England taking on South Africa in a mouth-watering tournament-opener at The Oval. Currently, all the teams are busy playing the warm-up games.  All the ten teams will play two warm-up games each.
