Former India cricketer turned commentator Sanjay Manjrekar wants Indian skipper Virat Kohli to bat at one drop.

Notably, India lost the series after getting beaten by 135 runs at Centurion with one match still to play. India’s top-order has failed to deliver except one hundred from Virat. The openers, who were providing a great start to their team has failed to do so.

Cheteshwar Pujara, who came back on the brilliant form at home failed to show his class in the Rainbow Nation. However, Pujara got into the records books for getting run out in both innings in the last Test. He became the first Indian batsmen to achieve this feat.

52-year-old Manjrekar feels that Ajinkya Rahane should replace Pujara for the upcoming Test match. Rahane is one of the best overseas batsmen for India in the recent years. He has scored hundreds all over the world proving his class.

Talking about who should bat at one drop, Manjrekar was quick to state that Kohli should bat at No 3 and take charge of the game. Kohli likes to dominate the game on his terms, and Manjrekar feels it will the best place for him to bat in South Africa.

Kohli has been criticised a lot for his team selection as he left out Bhuvneshwar Kumar to bring Ishant Sharma in the first XI. Kumar was the star performer for India in the first Test at Cape Town.

India will take on South Africa in the third Test at Johannesburg from January 24.
