India is on the verge of second defeat after losing three wickets early in pursuit of chasing 287 set by the host. However, India needed a monumental effort from Cheteshwar Pujara and Parthiv Patel on the final day to level the series.

Pujara came to South Africa on the back of a brilliant home season, and a lot was expected out of him in the ongoing series. However, Pujara failed to deliver as India’s batting line-up rattled in front of South African seamers.

However, Pujara did the same mistakes as he did in the first dig. He threw his wicket in the morning session of the fifth day while taking on AB de Villiers for an unnecessary third run. Ngidi was the first man who chased the ball and passed it to de Villiers, who followed him and then fired in a throw on the half-volley to de Kock, who whipped the bails off.

This is the first time an India batsman has got run out in both the innings of a Test match. Notably, Pujara got run out for a golden duck in the first innings courtesy a bullet throw from debutant Lungi Ngidi.

Pujara also becomes the first cricketer to get run out twice in a single match in the 21st Century. However, he will be keen to forget this match as soon as possible.

India has a hefty task ahead of them with already half of their batsmen back in the hut. A lot depends on Rohit Sharma, who has a disappointed so far in this series.
