The national selectors, on Thursday, sprung a massive surprise by dropping Sanju Samson from India’s T20I squad for the upcoming series against West Indies. The snub would be a hard pill to swallow for the Kerala star as he did not even get a chance to prove himself in international cricket. After a long wait of four years, Sanju Samson earned a well-deserved recall for the T20I series against Bangladesh.

It was expected that he would get a chance in the playing XI purely as a batsman in the absence of skipper Virat Kohli. However, the right-handed batsman warmed the bench in all the three games as India opted to back under-performing Rishabh Pant throughout the series. And the selectors once again made it clear that Pant is their preferred choice as the wicketkeeper-batsman.

The Delhi youngster found a place in the team for the upcoming series while Samson was left out. The Kerala batsman would definitely feel hard done by with the snub. He has been one of the most consistent performers in IPL as well as domestic circuit in the last couple of years. Recently, he also impressed for India A.

Sanju Samson reacts:

The batsman finally reacted to the latest snub on Friday morning in a subtle manner. He took to Twitter to express his feelings and made it clear that he does not have words to describe the setback. Samson just posted a smiley in his reaction to the snub.

The wicketkeeper-batsman, meanwhile, is not new to playing for India. He had earned his maiden call-up from the senior team way back in 2014 for the tour of England but could not make his debut. In the following year, he made his debut on the tour of Zimbabwe but was dropped after that series.
