England women team wicketkeeper-batter Sarah Taylor has responded back to Adam Gilchrist words of encouragement on Sunday (June 24). Gilchrist had recently hailed Taylor as the best wicketkeeper in the world including male cricketers.

England’s stumper said she had no idea that Gilchrist will give her such a big compliment.

Meanwhile, Sarah went on to reveal she has worked hard on her wicketkeeping skills during her career.

She is the best wicketkeeper in the world, Gilchrist had said.

Sarah reiterated she has been working with Michael Bates, who is the former Hamshire gloveman.

“I had absolutely no idea about that! I’ve been working so hard on my keeping. [Former Hampshire wicketkeeper] Michael Bates has been brilliant for me in terms of everything he’s done for my keeping. I’ll take that – it’s absolutely ridiculous – but I’ll take it,” Taylor was quoted as saying by BBC.

Meanwhile, Gilchrist, who is regarded as one of the best wicketkeepers in the game, had praised the glovework of the England player.

Gilly, as he was fondly called, said that Sarah did a fine job while playing in the cash-rich Big Bash League (BBL).

“I tweeted, no longer than a week ago, that she is the best wicketkeeper in the world at the moment – male or female,” Gilchrist told BBC Test Match Special. “

“She’s done some work over the years in the Big Bash in Australia and with social media now you can see these little snippets,” he added.

Consequently, Sarah has shown great skills while keeping behind the stumps. She has put in the hard yards and thus she is able to reap rewards for the same.

Sarah Taylor said that Women Cricket has also evolved in the recent past, “We’re fitter and stronger than we’ve ever been.”

Sarah would like to keep getting better at the topmost level. In fact, Gilchrist praise would have also given a shot in the arm to the English wicketkeeper-batswoman.
