Shahid Afridi just can’t stop making controversial comments against India and Kashmir. The former Pakistan captain recently traveled to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir [POK] where he turned heads courtesy his distasteful remarks against India and its Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Afridi had gone as far as comparing Narendra Modi’s mind ‘more dangerous than the coronavirus’ while also claiming that the 22 crore Muslims of India are firmly behind the 7 lakh Pakistani army.
Afridi’s comments created a huge furor in India with several cricketers including Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh, who regretted their move of donating to the all-rounder’s fund a few days ago, lashing out at the Pakistani for his distasteful remarks.
But, it seems, Afridi is at it again. The former captain has given another controversial statement where he expressed his desire to captain a Kashmiri team in the Pakistan Super League [PSL].
Shahid Afridi wants a team from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir in the PSL
Afridi went on to request the Pakistan Cricket Board [PCB] to include a new team with the name of Kashmir from the next season. Afridi said he would lead the Kashmir team in what is allegedly his final year of competitive cricket in 2021.
“I’ll make use of this opportunity and request the Pakistan Cricket Board that next time when they host the PSL, a new team with the name of Kashmir should be included in it. And I would like to lead that Kashmir team in my final year. I request the PCB that the next franchise should be called Kashmir.” Shahid Afridi was quoted as saying by Times Now.
Afridi further offered to help the worthy cricketers by taking them to Karachi and bear expenses of their stay, practice, and education.
He further opined, “If there is a stadium here then there should be a cricket academy as well and I’m willing to travel from Karachi to help run the academy here. I’ve heard there are 125 clubs in this region so there should be a tournament between those teams. I would be happy to come here and watch the matches. The worthy players from that tournament, I’m willing to take them to Karachi with me. They can stay with me, practice with me and also get their education,”
