Shakib Al Hasan Wants To Retire With 'Bangladesh Legends' Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim

Bangladesh have improvised drastically in the last few years and are no longer seen as underdogs in international cricket. A lot of credit for the improvement of the side goes to senior players like Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mashrafe Mortaza. While speculations about Mortaza’s retirement staged since the 2019 World Cup, Shakib wants to call time on his career with Tamim and Mushfiqur.
Shakib is the finest all-rounders to have donned the Bangladesh jersey. He has scored over 10000 international runs and excelled across formats with the ball as well. Mushfiqur and Tamim have also played crucial roles with the bat in their successful careers for the Bangladesh team.
Shakib Al Hasan Hints Of Retirement After 2023 World Cup
Shakib Al Hasan has said that it would be the best if the trio retire together as they have been playing together since their U-15 days. The premier all-rounder, who is serving a ban for not informing match-fixing approach, also said that at the moment he is looking forward for the 2023 World Cup and might call his time after that.
‘I think the best time will be when we three retire together; sit back, relax and talk about what we have done,’ Shakib told Cricbuzz.
‘I think we have been playing together from Under-15. Since then till now we are together and hopefully we will be so for a few more years. And then we can sit back and talk about what we have done for Bangladesh cricket.
‘But for now I think we can look forward and think about 2023 World Cup which will be very important for Bangladesh cricket and for us. So time for us to look forward, at least for now and after few years we can look back and think what we have done,’ he said.
Hasan has picked up 210 Test wickets and 260 scalps in ODIs.
