Once again, there comes a comparison question between Steve Smith and Virat Kohli. Whenever a brilliant knock flourish from either Steve Smith or Virat Kohli, the obvious question, which follows is ”Who is the best batsman in the world?”. The latest to reveal his opinion is the legendary spinner of Australia Shane Warne.

Steve Smith scored his third double century on Thursday as he continued to dominate the English bowling attack in the current Ashes series. Smith roared and punched the air as he reached the landmark after more than seven hours of batting. Remarkably, Smith’s all three double centuries have been scored against England.

In Test Cricket, I would pick Steve Smith – Shane Warne

It is a sensational series so far for Steve Smith. He went back to pavilion with massive run-tallies to his name whenever he walked to the middle to face England bowling attack. Now, the double century certainly proved that he is one of the greatest batsmen in the world. Meanwhile, Shane Warne lets his opinion out on comparisons.

Shane Warne quoted that he is very happy to take Steve Smith on his side over Virat Kohli in Test format of the game. However, Warne added that he won’t be disappointed if Virat Kohli makes into his side.

“As far as Test cricket goes, I would probably say it is a really tough one between Virat and Smith. But I think if I had to pick one batsman in Test cricket, it would be Smith, but if I lost that and had Virat, I would still be happy because he is a legend,” he pointed.

Further, Shane Warne quoted that Virat Kohli is the best batsman in the world when it comes to across the formats. Warne said that he would vote for Virat Kohli on any day if the topic belongs to all formats of the game. He rated Kohli as the best batsman, who overtakes Vivian Richards.

“I think Virat is the best batsman in the world. I think if I had to pick one batsman across all formats, it would have to be Virat. Viv Richards was the greatest batsman I saw in ODI cricket and in all cricket probably. But Virat is now the greatest ODI player that we have seen. He overtakes Viv for me.”

There has been a debate in the cricketing fraternity about who the best batsman in the current game is. The whole argument revolves around Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, Joe Root and Kane Williamson who are popularly known as the Fab Four. However, currently, Steve Smith and Virat Kohli are in the race to be called as the best batsman of the world.
