As reported by Mumbai Mirror, Shane Warne had no idea how the BCCI has allowed Ricky Ponting to mentor Delhi Capitals despite he being named as an assistant coach of the Australia team for the 2019 World Cup. In the past, Ravi Shastri also got denied a chance to be part of the IPL, as it would breach the BCCI’s code of conduct. Since he is serving as the head coach of the Indian team, Shastri cannot take up another role in Indian cricket. Meanwhile, Warne has cleared the air on Twitter; saying the misleading headlines of him asking Ponting to be banned from the IPL is not true.

Warney confirms what he said on Ponting

Taking to Twitter, Ponting said,

Articles on me saying Punter should be banned from the IPL are simply not true – so stop the BS. When asked, I said it would be a silly move from the BCCI to not allow him to coach Delhi because he’s ass coach of Aust. But if thats the decision – then he would have to accept it !

What the tabloid mentioned?

Mumbai Mirror, who took an exclusive interview with Shane Warne asked him,

‘…do you think it is justified that Ravi Shastri and other India coaches can’t be part of the IPL and Ponting will be?

To which, the veteran Australia cricketer said,

‘this is not for me to say but if the BCCI decides Ravi Shastri cannot be part of the IPL, then I don’t see how Ricky can be.’

Warne-IPL, a love story to tell!

Shane Warne and the Indian Premier League is a tale to know for all story lovers. During the maiden edition of the IPL, in 2008; it was under Shane’s captaincy, the underdogs, Rajasthan Royals went onto win the title. They beat star-studded Chennai Super Kings in the finals to script history. 11 years later, Warne still has association intact with the franchise. Though not as a player or a mentor, like the last season; Shane is now their brand ambassador.

Meanwhile, the twelfth edition of the Indian Premier League will begin on March 23rd.
