Australia Test batsman Shaun Marsh is likely to return for the Perth Scorchers in the KFC Big Bash League (BBL). It will be a boost for the table toppers ahead of their clash against Adelaide Strikers.
Marsh suffered a quad strain in the fifth Magellan Ashes Test in Sydney, which has kept him out of the past three matches. However, the physio is reluctant to take any risk with Australia’s tour to South Africa looming ahead.
Scorcher’s coach Justin Langer and Marsh himself confirmed that the 34-year-old Marsh is likely to return against the Strikers.
“I’m hoping to be ready on Thursday. I was hoping to be right for this game but I wasn’t quite right,” Marsh said.
“Hopefully, over the next few day, I’ll get all the ticks from the physios and be ready to go on Thursday,” Marsh added further.
Left-arm spinner Ashton Agar, who starred for Scorchers in the last match said it would add to the strength of the team.
“That’s a huge inclusion if he’s back,” Agar said.
“He was in great form for the Australian Test team and I’m sure those basics translate into Twenty20 really well.
He’s done it so many times in the Big Bash for us, so it’ll be such a handy addition heading into the finals series,” Agar stated.
The Scorchers are in the line of securing a home semi-final with one week of the regular season remaining. They are two points ahead of the Strikers, who are sitting at the second position.
