Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina, Chess Player Viswanathan Anand Listed To Ring Bell At Eden Gardens

Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will not just attend the day 1 of of the historic pink-ball Test between India and Bangladesh at Eden Gardens but she will also ring the iconic bell to kick off the proceedings. The bell at the historic venue was installed in 2016 and Kapil Dev was the first celebrity to ring it when India hosted New Zealand.

Not just Bangladesh’s PM, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has also invited India’s veteran chess player Viswanathan Anand. According to a report in PTI, India’s first grandmaster has also accepted the invitation. Apart from him, CAB has also invited chess player Magnus Carlsen. He is likely to confirm his availability soon.

While the day hasn’t been confirmed, the duo will be ringing the bell together on one of the five days.
Since the inauguration of the bell, likes of Lasith Malinga, Chris Gayle, Stephen Fleming and others have had rung the bell at Eden Gardens.

CAB has already made the event a grand one and the board has also invited Bangladesh’s players who were a part of country’s debut Test.

The iconic Test match between India and Bangladesh will start on November 22. It will be the first time that both India and Bangladesh will play a day-night Test match. Few of the Indian players have played with a pink ball while this isn’t the case with Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, India won the second T20I to level the series 1-1. Chasing targe of 154, skipper Rohit Sharma led the charge and steered the team to a win with an innings of 85 off 43. The third and the final T20I will be played on November 10 in Nagpur. After the T20I series, the two teams will kick off the Test series in Indore from November 14.
