While not very surprisingly everyone is finding it hard to compare Rohit Sharma‘s stunning double-centuries scoring feat, his opening partner Shikhar Dhawan has come up with a witty comparison after the Mumbai star slammed his third double century in the second One-Day International against Sri Lanka on Wednesday (December 13).

So far, only seven double centuries have been scored in the 50-over format and Rohit has stunningly scored 3 with them. The right-handed batsman, who also holds the record of the highest individual score in ODIs, did not begin the proceedings against Sri Lanka in a strong manner as he looked more than happy to take his time. Well, perhaps the stand-in skipper was not willing to take chances after what happened in the first game in Dharamsala.

The 30-year old took 65 balls to reach his half-century and reached his hundred at a strike-rate of less than hundred. In fact, he reached the three-digit mark by the end of the 40th over and one can say that nobody was expecting a double century. However, Rohit had some other plans on his second wedding anniversary as he scored more than half of his unbeaten 208 in the last 10 overs. After completing his 16th ODI century by the end of the 40th, he shifted gears to thump 107 more off his final 37 balls. The stunning knock was studded with sixes and 12 fours.

India went on to score a mammoth 147 in the last 10 overs to set Sri Lanka an improbable target of 393. In reply, former skipper Angelo Mathews waged a lone battle, scoring an unbeaten 111 but lack of support from the other end did not help Sri Lanka’s cause. The Islanders were eventually restricted to 251 for 8.

Meanwhile, just like many Dhawan was also stunned with Rohit’s ‘crazy stuff’ and took to Twitter to laud his opening partner.

“Super batting by the hitman!!You’re hitting double centuries like you’re buying cars?..crazy stuff???? @ImRo45,” Dhawan wrote on Twitter.
