Shikhar Dhawan, India and Delhi Capitals opener, did not think about cricket during the five-month coronavirus-enforced lockdown. Instead, the southpaw worked on maintaining his fitness levels besides focussing on the mental aspect of his health.

The swashbuckling Indian opener revealed that his major priority during the lockdown was to stay away from the Covid-19 infection. Dhawan said that he understood the gravity of the situation and it was only after the relaxation of lockdown restrictions that he decided to move out for training. The southpaw, when asked if he was worried about not playing cricket, said he was sure that he would get to play the game at some point and all he did was focus on his mental health besides visualizing that he was playing good cricket.

“I did not think about cricket in the last 5 months. I accepted it that we have to stay inside. The focus was on staying fit and healthy and priority was to ensure we stay away from the covid-19 infection as much as possible. Once the community parks opened, I started basic running outside and maintained my fitness levels because I knew we are going to play and I kept on investing in my training and mental aspect and visualised myself playing good cricket.” Shikhar Dhawan was quoted as saying by Timesnewnow.com.
