Shivam Mavi first played for KKR in 2018, featuring in nine matches and taking only five wickets at 54. He could not don the jersey last year and so did Kamlesh Nagarkoti, who missed the previous two editions. The pace-bowling pair shared four wickets between them as KKR restricted the Steve Smith-led side to 137. Rajasthan’s batting failed on this occasion after producing two 200 plus totals.

For the Knight Riders, Shubman Gill top-scored with 47 at the top while the likes of Nitish Rana and Andre Russell added some quick and valuable runs in the middle-order. After a minor wobble, England’s limited-overs skipper Eoin Morgan delivered the final flourish, striking 34 off 23 deliveries to lift his side to 174. Jofra Archer was the pick of the bowlers for Rajasthan Royals, finishing with figures of 4-0-18-2.

Shivam Mavi was delighted to pluck the scalps of Sanju Samson and Jos Buttler, both of who were significant to Royals’ run-chase. The 21-year old highlighted that he stuck to the plans and credited Andre Russell and Pat Cummins for helping them out. Mavi went on to thank Venky Mysore and Shahrukh Khan, who not only came to watch the match on Wednesday but also stuck by them when they struggled with injuries. He ended with a spell of 4-0-20-2, securing the man of the match award.

“It felt really good to dismiss both Samson and Buttler. I bowled the ball as I had planned to do. It feels really nice to spend time with the likes of Russell and Cummins. We have mixed up with them, they are always around with us. It feels really good when Venky Mysore sir and Shah Rukh Khan sir come to watch us play. We were injured but the management showed faith in us and we are grateful for that,” the speedster said as quoted by Times Now.
