It is Virat Kohli, who Shoaib Akhtar has claimed as the best cricketer by a mile. The Indian captain has taken massive strides in the last few years in reigning supreme across formats and is the only cricketer to average above 50 in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is. As a captain, Kohli’s aggressiveness has boded well for his batting as well, nailing several run-chases to perfection.
Meanwhile, Shoaib Akhtar’s praising Indian cricketers has not gone down well in Pakistan. In recent times, Akhtar has criticised his countrymen’s performances at the international level, mainly owing to their poor outing in Tests in England recently. Hence, he slammed the national team for failing to stand up to the Englishmen.
Why should I not praise Indian players and Virat Kohli?: Shoaib Akhtar
Akhtar questioned as to why should he not praise Indian cricketers and Virat Kohli and queried if any Pakistan players come close to Kohli. The Rawalpindi Express added that before getting angry, one should look at his stats and that now all Pakistan players want to emulate their arch-rivals.
“Why should I not praise Indian players and Virat Kohli? Is there any player in Pakistan, or all over the world, which comes close to Kohli?
“I don’t know why people are angry, they should go look at the stats first before criticising me. There was a time when Indians wanted to be like Pakistan players but now it’s the other way around,” the 45-year-old told Cricket Pakistan.
