Pakistan have once again found them on the wrong side after Australia took control of the second Test match at the Adelaide Oval. The batsmen once again failed to resist the Aussie attack except for Babar Azam and Yasir Shah, but it wasn’t enough to save Pakistan from struggling. The home side needs seven wickets more to seal the match and the series with two days of play still left to play.

After an excellent show from David Warner, Mitchell Starc entertained the crowd in Adelaide with his spectacular display of fast bowling. While others gave away their wicket, Babar Azam stood tall defying all the odds but missed his century by three runs. But Yasir Shah who shared a 105-runs with Babar, made sure he reached the three-figure mark.

Akhtar heaps praise on Yasir Shah

Pakistan banked on an excellent knock from Yasir Shah to save from humiliation as they posted 302 runs in the first innings. Shah finally got out to Pat Cummins on 113 runs which was made up of 13 boundaries. Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar heaped praise on the leg-spinner for showing character against a top-class bowling attack.

“Great resilience shown by @Shah64Y. Scoring a century in Australia coming at number 8 showing the rest of the batsmen “Asay hota hai bhai”. Another good knock by @babarazam258 as well. #AUSvPAK,” Shoaib Akhtar tweeted.

Meanwhile, Australia have reduced Pakistan to 39 for three in the second essay. The visitors will once again hope for a Yasir Shah to make the host bat again in the match with two days still left. Pakistan still trail by 248 runs while the host needs only seven more wickets to seal the game.
